The remaining parts of the château were built in the 12th 15th and 16th centuries.
The castle was built on a spur and was protection by a dry moat. The entrance was over a drawbridge, and through a door between two towers. The oldest identifiable part is the stone keep built around 1193 by Guillaume de Pressigny.
Honorat de Savoie-Villars, Maréchal and Admiral of France, built the renaissance palace, where he was to live the last of his days up to 1580, inside the old castle. The only part that remains is the elegant hall which is build on an arcade, open to the east, of seven roman arches and groin vaults.
The château houses the internationally recognised Le Grand Pressigny prehistory museum.
