This hamlet was attached to Le Grand Pressigny in 1821.
The castle (which is not open to the public) was probably built in the early 13th century by Maurice de Craon, Sénéchal of Touraine. A square tower was added in the 14th century by Jean le Meingre, known as Boucicault, Maréchal of France. The castle was well maintained up to the French Revolution but it is now in ruins.
Étableau huddles between the cliff and the river Aigronne. It is one of the most attractive sites in the valley with many old houses such as the Ferry House with its 15th century square tower.
