Le Grand Pressigny has a long history. Prisciniacus, a Gallo Roman farm, was built where the Aigronne runs into the Claise. By the 15th century, this had grown into the village Pressigny les Quatre-Eglises. Today, the town of Le Grand Pressigny is the capital of the rural district of the same name.
Le Grand Pressigny is 31 km south-west of Loches, 63 km from the Brenne Natural Park, 20 km from the Haute-Touche wildlife park, 51 km from the Futuroscope and 25 km from Châtellerault.
